I live in Boyne City on Lake Charlevoix. I have been fighting the residential bubblers on permanent docks in our city for 4 years. The town has a recent ordinance for bubblers which they are not enforcing. The 4 bubbled docks affect two public accesses. The public trust doctrine has been violated due to the bubblers. I am concerned how the bubblers are affecting our lake. Last week we had a public forum on the bubbler issue.
Tomorrow is another City Commissioner meeting I plan on attending to see how the city will progress with the bubbler nuisance. Does your organization have any history working with towns to get these death traps banned. Boyne City wants to seek experts to advise on the issues bubblers create for our community.
I want a new ordinance to ban the bubblers so future generations on this lake can use the lake safely again.
